My Journal
There is something in the first reading that caught my attention. The revelation of God - His dream - is not hidden or too high. It is the most simple and basic reality that each one of us can experience. Is this the “downfall”? That is too simple and does not attract us? What if we had people to pay for secret meetings and workshops? Would they appreciate God’s love a bit more?
God’s reality is all around us. This week it comes to us powerful and simply - it’s all about Love. This is the deepest reality of our live, this is what gives meaning to our existence. Love! We long to be loved and to love. It’s in our DNA because we have been created in the image of God and God is Love. Not only Loving and worthy of our love, but Love in its fullness.
We have been created in God’s image and therefore with the capacity and ability to love and be loved. We need Love in order to grow and to stay alive.
What stands in the way of love? We have been created in God’s image and God created us out of Love, which means that we are fundamentally free. Original Sin stands in compete opposition to Love because it is focused on taking, grabbing, putting one self first rather than give, sacrificing and putting the other first.
Whom should we love, then? everyone! Love is not a feeling but a choice to put the other’s wellbeing first. it does not matter what the person before us has done or what he or she believes. “In love what matters is to love.”
How can we live our lives rooted in love? can we even imagine what our lives would be like if we loved as we long to be loved?
This is the time to start again.
“We know that God, the source of all spirituality, is love. Love, then, is the most sought after spiritual element”
