Heavenwards

It comes out very clearly in the Gospel that Jesus called God “Father.” When asked by the disciples to teach them how to pray, He invited them to refer to God in the same way.

What does it mean to call God “Father?” In a society, like ours, where words are cheap and many, where name-calling is done as “matter of fact” what value does it have to call God... well, anything?

Yet, we are challenged to take the words of the most sacred prayer we have, the “Our Father”, and make it our own. I want to repeat the word “Father” until I taste heaven.

I am in total awe every time I think of it: God, the creator of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible, wants to relate to me and wants me to call Him “Dad.”

Is this crazy love or what?

WORD OF LIFE

"The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it"
